Street Lamp And Blue Windows Puzzle Details:

About: Take a few minutes and relax with today's new game featuring a golden street lamp in front of an old building with blue wooden windows. The use of street lighting was first recorded in the city of Antioch from the 4th century. Before incandescent lamps, candle lighting was employed in cities. The earliest lamps required that a lamplighter tour the town at dusk, lighting each of the lamps. The first widespread system of street lighting used piped coal gas as fuel. The first electric street lighting employed arc lamps, initially the 'Electric candle', 'Jablotchkoff candle' or 'Yablochkov candle' developed by a Russian, Pavel Yablochkov, in 1875. Today, street lighting commonly uses high-intensity discharge lamps, and most recently LED lighting.

Measuring tapes designed for carpentry or construction, like the ones in this puzzle, often use a stiff, curved metallic ribbon that can remain stiff and straight when extended, but retracts into a coil for convenient storage.

Totem Pole

This new jigsaw puzzle features a beautiful totem pole. Totem poles are monumental sculptures carved from large trees, mostly Western Red Cedar, by cultures of the indigenous peoples of the Pacific Northwest Coast of North America. The meanings of the designs on totem poles are as varied as the cultures that make them. Totem poles may recount familiar legends, clan lineages, or notable events. Some poles celebrate cultural beliefs, but others are mostly artistic presentations. Certain types of totem poles are part of mortuary structures, and incorporate grave boxes with carved supporting poles, or recessed backs for grave boxes.
