Until the Renaissance, navigational technology remained comparatively primitive. Ship designs stayed fairly unchanged until the late 19th century when the industrial revolution, new mechanical methods of propulsion, and the ability to construct ships from metal triggered an explosion in ship design.

It subsequently became the independent Republic of Uzbekistan on August 31, 1991. Most of Uzbekistan’s population today belong to the Uzbek ethnic group and speak the Uzbek language, a language belonging to the family of Turkic languages.
