About: As a ubiquitous desktop item, the mug is often used as an object of art or advertisement; some mugs are rather decorations than drinking vessels. Deforming a mug into an unusual shape or painting different patterns or pictures on the outside are techniques sometimes used to make mugs more original and expressive. Rope and more rope in today's puzzle of the day. The use of ropes for pulling, fastening, lifting, attaching, climbing, and carrying dates back to prehistoric times. The laid rope, also called twisted rope, that you see in the image is historically the prevalent form of rope. Common twisted rope generally consists of three strands and is normally right-laid, or given a final right-handed twist. Most twisted ropes are built up in three steps. First, fibres are gathered and spun into yarns. These yarns are then formed into strands by twisting. The strands are then twisted together into actual rope. The twist of the yarn is opposite to that of the strand, and that in turn is opposite to that of the rope. This counter-twist, introduced with each successive operation, holds the rope together and gives it more strength.
