The engine's output specifications are: 490 PS (360 kW; 483 hp) at 8500 rpm and 465 N·m (343 lb·ft) of torque at 5250 rpm, 80% of which is available below 3500rpm. Packet ships were small boats designed for domestic mail, passenger and freight transportation in Europe and its colonies, including North American rivers and canals. The American canal packet boats were typically narrow (about 14 feet) to accommodate canals, but might be 70–90 feet long. They could carry up to 60 passengers.
