Colorful Glass Decanters

If you didn't know, decanters come in a variety of shapes, designs and colors, have been traditionally made from glass or crystal and are used to hold the decantation of a liquid (such as wine) which may contain sediment. Another reason for decanting wine is to aerate it, or allow it to "breathe" (stimulate the oxidation processes which triggers the release of more aromatic compounds).

Ready for a fun day in the snow? Grab your skis and join us on the snowy ski slopes. If you didn't know, a ski is a narrow strip of semi-rigid material worn underfoot to glide over snow. The oldest wooden skis found were in Russia (c. 6300-5000 BCE), Sweden (c. 5200 BCE) and Norway (c. 3200 BCE) respectively. They have evolved from being constructed from solid wood to using a variety of materials including carbon-Kevlar to make skis stronger, stiffer, lighter, and more durable. Skis are attached to ski boots with ski bindings, with either a free, lockable, or partially secured heel.

It's intense color is a warning to predators that the red lacewing has a bad taste, the same as the host plants the caterpillars live on.

Also known as myrobalan plum, the cherry plum is a species of plum native to Southeast Europe and Western Asia. The cherry plum is a popular ornamental tree for garden and landscaping use, grown for its very early flowering. It' fruit is an edible yellow or red drupe, 2 to 3 cm in diameter. Some cherry plum varieties have sweet fruits that can be eaten fresh, while others are sour and are used for making jam or as ingredients for other dishes.
