Brightly Colored Buttons Puzzle Details:

About: If you didn't already know, a button is a small fastener, made of plastic, metal, wood, or seashell, that joins two pieces of fabric together. Buttons and button-like objects have been used as ornaments or seals rather than fasteners since as long ago as 3000 BC. Functional buttons with buttonholes, like the brightly colored ones featured in today's puzzle, for fastening or closing clothes appeared first in Germany in the 13th century.

Small And Colorful Fishing Boat

Small And Colorful Fishing Boat

Click start and join us for a fishing trip on the small and colorful boat featured in this fun new puzzle. Fishing is an ancient practice that dates back to at least the beginning of the Upper Paleolithic period about 40,000 years ago. Techniques for catching fish include hand gathering, spearing, netting, angling and trapping. The early evolution of fishing as recreation is not clear. Recreational fishing took a great leap forward after the English Civil War, where a newly found interest in the activity left its mark on the many books and treatises that were written on the subject at the time. Recreational fishers fish for pleasure, sport, or to provide food for themselves, while commercial fishers fish for profit. Artisanal fishers use traditional, low-tech methods, for survival in third-world countries, and as a cultural heritage in other countries. Usually, recreational fishers use angling methods and commercial fishers use netting methods.

Matchsticks

The first successful friction match was invented in 1826 by John Walker, an English chemist and druggist from Stockton-on-Tees, County Durham. It was however dangerous and flaming balls sometimes fell to the floor burning carpets and dresses, leading to their ban in France and Germany. In 1829, Scots inventor Sir Isaac Holden invented an improved version of Walker's match and demonstrated it to his class at Castle Academy in Reading, Berkshire.
