Large Tree Crown

Trees come in a variety of shapes and sizes. From small ones that are just a few meters in height to very large ones that tower over the landscape. In today's puzzle we feature a very large tree crown against the clear blue sky. If you didn't know, the crown of a tree is the spreading top including the branches and leaves. The uppermost layer in a forest, formed by the crowns of the trees, is known as the canopy.

The Lower Gate Bridge In Bern

The Lower Gate Bridge (Untertorbrücke) is a stone arch bridge that spans the Aare in the city of Bern, Switzerland, connecting the Mattequartier in the Old City to the Schosshalde neighbourhood. It is the oldest of Bern's Aare bridges. The first Untertorbrücke could be completed in 1256. In its current form, the bridge is reduced to the medieval construction core, with no traces of the once extensive system of fortifications or imposing baroque gates remaining.

The Maroon Bells

The Maroon Bells (Maroon Peak and North Maroon Peak) are two distinctively bell-shaped peaks towering 14,000 ft. above the pristine, glacial Maroon Creek Valley. They are part of the Elk Mountains and are located just outside Aspen in Colorado's Rocky Mountains USA. Both peaks are fourteeners (a mountain peak with an elevation of at least 14,000 feet (4267 meters)). Maroon Peak, at 14,163 feet (4317 m), is the 27th highest peak in Colorado. North Maroon Peak, at 14,019 feet (4273 m), is the 50th highest. The Maroon Bells are composed of the Maroon Formation - mudstone.

Fishing On An Autumn Day

What better way to spend a warm Autumn day than fishing in a breathtaking landscape? If you didn't know, recreational fishing took a great leap forward after the English Civil War, where a newly found interest in the activity left its mark on the many books and treatises that were written on the subject at the time. Wind Turbine

Wind turbines, like the one featured in today's puzzle, are used to lower energy costs and reduce reliance on fossil fuels. They convert wind energy to electricity and can be very large, reaching over 140 m tall and with blades 55 m long.

This beautiful puzzle is based on a painting by Ferdinand Georg Waldmuller (one of the most important Austrian landscape painters). It depicts a view of Prater, a large public garden in Vienna, Austria. In the foreground a man sits beside a tree and takes in the beautiful landscape.
