The Lower Gate Bridge In Bern

The Lower Gate Bridge (Untertorbrücke) is a stone arch bridge that spans the Aare in the city of Bern, Switzerland, connecting the Mattequartier in the Old City to the Schosshalde neighbourhood. It is the oldest of Bern's Aare bridges. The first Untertorbrücke could be completed in 1256. In its current form, the bridge is reduced to the medieval construction core, with no traces of the once extensive system of fortifications or imposing baroque gates remaining.

The Arcueil Aqueduct at Sceaux Railroad Crossing

Today we're visiting the Aqueduct in Arcueil, a commune in the Val-de-Marne department in the southern suburbs of Paris, France. The name Arcueil means "place of the arches" (Latin radical arcus, "arch", and Celtic suffix -ialo, "place of"), in reference to the Roman aqueduct carrying water to the Roman city of Lutetia (modern Paris). Between 1613 and 1624 a bridge-aqueduct over 400 meters long was constructed to bring water from the spring of Rungis, south of Arcueil, across the Bievre river to the Luxembourg Palace in Paris. Between 1868 and 1872 another aqueduct was superimposed above the previous one, forming part of the system bringing water from the river Vanne to Paris. This puzzle is based on a 1874 painting by Jean Baptiste Armand Guillaumin.

Crested Butte is a mountain summit in the Elk Mountains range of the Rocky Mountains of North America. The mountain rises to 12,162 feet (3,707 m) above sea level. The surrounding area is a popular destination for skiing, mountain biking, hiking, mountain climbing and a variety of other outdoor activities.

Grand Teton National Park

Today we're going to Wyoming, to visit the Grand Teton National Park. The park includes the major peaks of the 40-mile-long (64 km) Teton Range(a mountain range of the Rocky Mountains) as well as most of the northern sections of the valley known as Jackson Hole. It is an almost pristine ecosystem and the same species of flora and fauna that have existed since prehistoric times can still be found there. Grand Teton National Park is a popular destination for hiking, fishing, mountaineering, and other forms of recreation.

Sandstone Falls

In today's puzzle we're visiting Sandstone Falls, a series of broad but not high waterfalls on the New River in Sandstone Falls State Park in West Virginia. Sandstone Falls spans the river where it is 1500 feet wide. It was created by the powerful flow of the river eroding the soft conglomerate rock layer that lies below the hard sandstone layer from which the falls gets its name.
