Gaztelugatxe Puzzle Details:

About: Today we're going to a islet on the coast of Biscay called Gaztelugatxe. As you can see in the picture featured in this new puzzle, on top of the island stands a hermitage, dedicated to John the Baptist and the small island is connected to the mainland by a man-made stone bridge. The small church, 80 metres above sea level, dates from the 10th century. The word gaztelugatxe comes from the Basque gaztelu = "castle" and atx = "rock", forming "the rock castle".

Birch species are generally small to medium-sized trees or shrubs, mostly of northern temperate and boreal climates. They are a typically rather short-lived pioneer species, rapidly colonizing open ground. In Celtic cultures, the birch symbolizes growth, renewal, stability, initiation and adaptability because it is highly adaptive and able to sustain harsh conditions with casual indifference. The bark of all birches is characteristically marked with long, horizontal lenticels, and often separates into thin, papery plates. White-barked birches, like the ones in this fun nature themed jigsaw puzzles, are cultivated as ornamental trees, largely for their appearance in winter.
