About: In today's puzzle we're visiting lake Federa (lago Fedèra). This beautiful alpine lake in the Italian Dolomites is located within the municipal area of Cortina d'Ampezzo , in the province of Belluno. The mountain peak reflecting in the lake's waters is called Becco di Mezzodi (2,603m) and it is a a mountain of the Croda da Lago chain, a small mountain group in the central Dolomites. The mountain's name means Midday Peak in the local dialect, as the sun appears directly above the peak at midday from Cortina.

The harsh and extreme weather conditions from the Southern Ocean gradually erode the soft limestone to form caves in the cliffs, which then become arches that eventually collapse, leaving rock stacks up to 50 m high. The stacks were originally known as the Pinnacles, and the Sow and Pigs (or Sow and Piglets, with Muttonbird Island being the Sow and the smaller rock stacks being the Piglets), as well as the Twelve Apostles.
