Niagara Falls

Today we're visiting the breathtaking Niagara Falls. This impressive group of three waterfalls is located on the border between the province of Ontario in Canada and the state of New York in the United States, at the southern end of Niagara Gorge. The falls are formed by the Niagara River, which drains Lake Erie into Lake Ontario. This group waterfalls has the highest flow rate of any waterfall in North America.

Prater Landscape

This beautiful puzzle is based on a painting by Ferdinand Georg Waldmuller (one of the most important Austrian landscape painters). It depicts a view of Prater, a large public garden in Vienna, Austria. In the foreground a man sits beside a tree and takes in the beautiful landscape. In the background the sunlight illuminates the trees in the park, creating alternating areas of light and shadow.

The Maroon Bells

The Maroon Bells (Maroon Peak and North Maroon Peak) are two distinctively bell-shaped peaks towering 14,000 ft. above the pristine, glacial Maroon Creek Valley. They are part of the Elk Mountains and are located just outside Aspen in Colorado's Rocky Mountains USA. Both peaks are fourteeners (a mountain peak with an elevation of at least 14,000 feet (4267 meters)). Maroon Peak, at 14,163 feet (4317 m), is the 27th highest peak in Colorado. North Maroon Peak, at 14,019 feet (4273 m), is the 50th highest. The Maroon Bells are composed of the Maroon Formation - mudstone.

Landscape With Willow Tree

In this puzzle we feature a beautiful willow tree growing on the banks of a river. Willow trees are usually found in wet or poorly-drained soil at the edge of pools, lakes or rivers. They are medium-sized to large trees growing up to 10-30 m tall, with a trunk up to 1 m diameter and an irregular, often-leaning crown.

Federa Lake And Midday Peak

In today's puzzle we're visiting lake Federa (lago Fedèra). This beautiful alpine lake in the Italian Dolomites is located within the municipal area of Cortina d'Ampezzo , in the province of Belluno. The mountain peak reflecting in the lake's waters is called Becco di Mezzodi (2,603m) and it is a a mountain of the Croda da Lago chain, a small mountain group in the central Dolomites. The mountain's name means Midday Peak in the local dialect, as the sun appears directly above the peak at midday from Cortina.

The Arcueil Aqueduct at Sceaux Railroad Crossing

Today we're visiting the Aqueduct in Arcueil, a commune in the Val-de-Marne department in the southern suburbs of Paris, France. The name Arcueil means "place of the arches" (Latin radical arcus, "arch", and Celtic suffix -ialo, "place of"), in reference to the Roman aqueduct carrying water to the Roman city of Lutetia (modern Paris). Between 1613 and 1624 a bridge-aqueduct over 400 meters long was constructed to bring water from the spring of Rungis, south of Arcueil, across the Bievre river to the Luxembourg Palace in Paris. Between 1868 and 1872 another aqueduct was superimposed above the previous one, forming part of the system bringing water from the river Vanne to Paris. This puzzle is based on a 1874 painting by Jean Baptiste Armand Guillaumin.

Sand Dunes By The Seashore

In this nature themed puzzle we're taking a walk along some impressive costal sand dunes. Dunes are large masses of wind-blown sand. Dunes occur in some deserts, inland and along some coasts. Costal dunes run parallel to the shoreline directly inland from the beach. In most cases, they protect the land against potential ravages by storm waves from the sea. The three key ingredients for coastal dune formation are a large sand supply, winds to move the sand supply, and a place for the sand supply to accumulate.

In today's puzzle we feature the Dunloup Falls, a beautiful waterfall on the creek of the same name. The small waterfall is located near the old coal town of Thurmond in Fayette County, West Virginia. Have fun putting it back together!

Monument Valley

Today we're going to Arizona to visit Monument Valley. The valley is located on the Utah-Arizona state line and it's known for it's cluster of vast sandstone buttes, the largest reaching 300 m above the valley floor. If you didn't know a butte is an isolated hill with steep, often vertical sides and a small, relatively flat top. Buttes form by weathering and erosion. Monument Valley has some of the largest, most distinctive and widely recognized buttes.

Matterhorn Reflected In Stellisee Lake

Today we're going to Switzerland to visit the Stellisee mountain lake near Zermatt in the Valais Alps. Located in a breath taking alpine landscape, this beautiful mountain lake is near the Matterhorn - a mountain of the Alps, on the border between Switzerland and Italy. You can see the large, near-symmetric pyramidal peak reflected in the lake's clear water. The Matterhorn has two distinct summits, situated at either end of a 100-metre-long (330 ft) exposed rocky crest which forms the Italian/Swiss border. The tallest peak is 4,478 meters (14,692 ft) high, making it one of the highest summits in the Alps and Europe. The German name Matterhorn is named for Mattertal and Zermatt (historically Matt "alpine meadow", the prefix zer- is a preposition).
