Rock Formations in the Garden of the Gods

Today's we visiting the Garden of the Gods, a public park located in Colorado Springs, Colorado, United States. The park is filled with large sandstone rock formations, that were created during a geological upheaval along a natural fault line millions of years ago. The park is popular for biking, hiking, rock climbing, and horseback riding. Because of the unusual and steep rock formations in the park, it is especially attractive for rock climbers.

The Belvedere Tower

Today we're visiting the Belvedere Tower in the Maloja Pass, Bregaglia Valley, Engadine, Canton of Graubunden, Switzerland. The "Torre Belvedere" is a 24-meter-high observation tower. It's built out of stone and it has an internal 112 step staircase. The viewing platform is located at a height of 22.5 meters and it offers a view of the Upper Engadine and Bergell alpine valleys.

Impressive Red-rock Formations

The breathtaking red-rock formations featured in this puzzle are located near Cottonwood, Arizona. Sandstone formations like the impressive one in today's game may be any color due to impurities within the minerals, but the most common colors are tan, red, brown, pink, yellow, grey, white, and black. Red sandstones get their color from hematite (a common iron oxide).

Monument Valley

Today we're going to Arizona to visit Monument Valley. The valley is located on the Utah-Arizona state line and it's known for it's cluster of vast sandstone buttes, the largest reaching 300 m above the valley floor. If you didn't know a butte is an isolated hill with steep, often vertical sides and a small, relatively flat top. Buttes form by weathering and erosion. Monument Valley has some of the largest, most distinctive and widely recognized buttes.

This tourist train runs between the communities of Georgetown and Silver Plume through mountainous terrain along with trestles, cuts, fills, and a grand loop.
