Train Crosses A High Trestle

Today we're going to the Rocky Mountain town of Georgetown and taking the Georgetown Loop Railroad scenic train to see breathtaking landscape. The Georgetown Loop Railroad is a 3 ft (914 mm) narrow gauge United States heritage railroad located in the Rocky Mountains in Clear Creek Count. This tourist train runs between the communities of Georgetown and Silver Plume through mountainous terrain along with trestles, cuts, fills, and a grand loop.

Reeds And Water Lilies

In today's puzzle we feature a close-up of some beautiful white water lilies growing between reeds on the banks of a river. If you didn't know, reed is a common name for several tall, grass-like plants of wetlands. The common reed grows up to 20 feet (6 metres) tall. It is often found at the upper edges of estuaries and on other wetlands.

This beautiful view of the Hudson River Valley was painted by Jasper Francis Cropsey in 1860. In the distance you can see the Hudson River and Storm King Mountain. In the foreground the painter depicted the beautiful valley on a sunny Autumn day. The Maroon Bells

The Maroon Bells (Maroon Peak and North Maroon Peak) are two distinctively bell-shaped peaks towering 14,000 ft. above the pristine, glacial Maroon Creek Valley. They are part of the Elk Mountains and are located just outside Aspen in Colorado's Rocky Mountains USA. Both peaks are fourteeners (a mountain peak with an elevation of at least 14,000 feet (4267 meters)). Maroon Peak, at 14,163 feet (4317 m), is the 27th highest peak in Colorado. North Maroon Peak, at 14,019 feet (4273 m), is the 50th highest. The Maroon Bells are composed of the Maroon Formation - mudstone.

Spruce Trees

If you didn't know, the term spruce tree refers to a genus of about 35 species of coniferous evergreen trees. These beautiful trees grow to a height of 20 to 60 m, have whorled branches and a conical shape. Spruces are used as building wood, as medicine or food (fresh shoots of many spruces are a natural source of vitamin C) or as ornamental trees, admired for their evergreen, symmetrical narrow-conic growth habit.
