Sandstone formations like the impressive one in today's game may be any color due to impurities within the minerals, but the most common colors are tan, red, brown, pink, yellow, grey, white, and black. Red sandstones get their color from hematite (a common iron oxide).

Bow Lake

Today we're on shores of Bow Lake, a small lake in western Alberta, Canada. This beautiful mountain lake is located on the Bow River, in the Canadian Rockies, at an altitude of 1920 m. Water in the lake is meltwater of the Bow Glacier and its turquoise coloring is due to glacial till (unsorted glacial sediment).

Autumn On the Hudson River

This beautiful view of the Hudson River Valley was painted by Jasper Francis Cropsey in 1860. In the distance you can see the Hudson River and Storm King Mountain. In the foreground the painter depicted the beautiful valley on a sunny Autumn day. Reeds And Water Lilies

If you didn't know, reed is a common name for several tall, grass-like plants of wetlands. The common reed grows up to 20 feet (6 metres) tall. It is often found at the upper edges of estuaries and on other wetlands.
