Designed by Santiago Calatrava and Felix Candela, the project underwent the first stages of construction in July 1996 and the finished "city" was inaugurated April 16, 1998 with the opening of L'Hemisferic (the larger building on the right of today's puzzle). The building is meant to resemble a giant eye; it is currently an IMAX Cinema, planetarium and laserium. The Dresden Frauenkirche (Church of Our Lady) is a Lutheran church and an outstanding example of Protestant sacred architecture, featuring one of the largest domes in Europe. Built in the 18th century, the church was destroyed in the bombing of Dresden during World War II. The church was rebuilt after the reunification of Germany, starting in 1994.
