Winter Squash and Pumpkins Puzzle Details:

About: It's harvest time and we're out on the farm gathering all kinds of fruits, vegetables, pumpkins and winter squashes. Start today's puzzle and put the Butternut, Spaghetti and Turban squashes featured in this colorful and challenging image back together as fast as you can and get a top place on our leaderboards. Winter squash have thick, tough shells that protect the sweet, rich flesh inside which makes them excellent storage vegetables. They are good for roasting, sauteing, steaming, mashing, pureed for soups, and baking. Butternut squash is the sweetest winter squash. All squashes are good source of fiber, vitamin C, manganese, magnesium, and potassium; and it is an excellent source of vitamin A and vitamin E. Pumpkin seeds also contain vitamin E, protein, B vitamins and several dietary minerals. The bright orange color of some of them is a dead giveaway they are loaded with an important antioxidant, beta-carotene. Recent research indicates that a diet rich in foods containing beta-carotene may reduce the risk of developing certain types of cancer and offers protection against heart disease. So are you waiting for? Start putting those colorful pumpkins back together. Have fun!

Fresh Pomegranates

As intact arils or juice, pomegranates are used in baking, cooking, juice blends, meal garnishes, smoothies, and alcoholic beverages, such as cocktails and wine. Pomegranate juice can be sweet or sour, but most fruits are moderate in taste. Pomegranate seeds are used as a spice known as anar dana, most notably in Indian and Pakistani cuisine. In Turkey, pomegranate sauce is used as a salad dressing, to marinate meat, or simply to drink straight. The name pomegranate derives from medieval Latin pomum "apple" and gronotum "seeded". Botanically, the edible pomegranate fruit is a berry.
