Tasty Croissants

Time for a tasty snack. If you didn't know the croissant is a buttery, flaky, pastry. It originated in Austria, but but mostly associated with France. The name comes from it's crescent shape. Croissants can be plain or they can be filled with chocolate, vanilla, various jams and even ham, cheese or spinach.

Eggplants

The eggplant, aubergine or brinjal is grown worldwide for its edible fruit. The purple fruit, featured in this fun puzzle, is used in several cuisines. Eggplants can be steamed, barbecued, stir-fried, stewed, pan fried, deep fried, roasted, pickled, or curried. Raw eggplant can have a bitter taste, with an astringent quality, but it becomes tender when cooked and develops a rich flavor.

Red Table Grapes

As opposed to other types of grapes that are used for wine production, juice production, or for drying into raisins, table grapes are grapes intended for consumption while fresh. Table grapes come in a variety of colors, sizes, flavors. They can be either seeded or non-seeded.

Shashlik

In today's food themed puzzle we feature a grill full of shashlik skewers. If you didn't know, shashlik, or shashlyk, is a dish of skewered and grilled cubes of meat, similar to with shish kebab. Shashlik was originally made of lamb, but nowadays it is also made of pork, beef, or venison, depending on local preferences and religious observances. The meat is marinated overnight in a high-acidity marinade like vinegar, dry wine or sour fruit/vegetable juice with the addition of onions, herbs and spices. The skewers are usually roasted on a mangal(barbecue) over wood, charcoal, or coal.

If you didn't know, Bruschetta is starter dish from Italy consisting of grilled bread rubbed with garlic and topped with olive oil, tomatoes, basil, vegetables, beans, cured meat, or cheese. Bruschetta originated in Italy during 15th century and it was developed as a way of salvaging bread that was going stale. The noun bruschetta comes from the Roman dialect verb bruscare, the equivalent which means "to toast", or "to roast over coals".

Fresh Mangos
