Fresh Plums

In today's puzzle we feature some delicious freshly picked plums. It is believed that plums may have been one of the first fruits domesticated by humans. They can be eaten fresh or turned into jams, juices, dried and used as ingredients in various foods and desserts. Some varieties may have a dusty-white waxy coating that makes them look like they are covered with a powdery bloom, you can clearly see it on the plums featured in this puzzle.

Shashlik

In today's food themed puzzle we feature a grill full of shashlik skewers. If you didn't know, shashlik, or shashlyk, is a dish of skewered and grilled cubes of meat, similar to with shish kebab. Shashlik was originally made of lamb, but nowadays it is also made of pork, beef, or venison, depending on local preferences and religious observances. The meat is marinated overnight in a high-acidity marinade like vinegar, dry wine or sour fruit/vegetable juice with the addition of onions, herbs and spices. The skewers are usually roasted on a mangal(barbecue) over wood, charcoal, or coal.

Cauliflower

If you didn't know, the word "cauliflower" derives from the Italian cavolfiore, meaning "cabbage flower". Cauliflower is one of several vegetables in the species Brassica oleracea that also includes cabbage, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, collard greens, and kale. There are hundreds of varieties of cauliflower grown around the world. The most common variety is white cauliflower(the one featured in today's puzzle), with orange, green and purple varieties also being available.

Sweet Chestnuts

These type of edible chestnuts, also known as Spanish chestnuts or just chestnuts, have been used in cooking since ancient times. Chestnuts are traditionally roasted in their tough brown husks. Once cooked, chestnuts acquire a sweet flavor and a floury texture similar to the sweet potato. They are used in confections, desserts, puddings, cakes or just roasted and eaten.
