Young Girls at the Piano

Today's puzzle is based on a painting by Auguste Renoir. This painting depicting two young girls at the piano in a bourgeois home was made in 1892 for a new museum in Paris, the Musee du Luxembourg, which was to be devoted to the work of living artists. Renoir painted three other variations of this composition in oil and two sketches, one in oil and one in pastel.

Croquet Scene

This new puzzle is based on a painting from 1866 by Winslow Homer and it depicts three women and one man play croquet. If you didn't already know, croquet is a sport that involves hitting wooden or plastic balls with a mallet through hoops. There are several variations of croquet, differing in the scoring systems, order of shots, and layout. Croquet is played on a grass court.

Still Life with a Ginger Jar and Eggplants

This beautiful and challenging jigsaw puzzle is based on a painting by Paul Cezanne, a French artist and Post-Impressionist painter. For this still life painting Cezanne used a variety of familiar objects that are featured in some of his other still life paintings. For example the ginger jar, is featured in more than a dozen paintings from the same period.

View of Olinda, Brazil

Today we're going back in time and visiting Olinda, Brazil in 1662. This puzzle is based on an oil on canvas painting Frans Jansz Post. It depicts Olinda Cathedral (damaged when the Dutch captured the region from the Portuguese in the 1630s) in the background and a variety of indigenous animals, plants, birds and even insects in the foreground. Put the pieces back together and see how many animals and plants can you spot. Have fun!

Mussel Fishers at Berneval

Another art themed puzzle is here. This new one is based on Pierre-Auguste Renoir's 1879 painting called "Pêcheuses de moules à Berneval, côte normand" (Mussel-Fishers at Berneval). Renoir painted this idyllic scene of a family gathering mussels during an 1879 visit to the Normandy coast. Marine mussels are abundant in the low and mid intertidal zone in temperate seas globally. People have used mussels as food for thousands of years. There are about 17 edible species of mussels that live in saltwater or freshwater habitats.

Garden Scene in Britanny

This art themed puzzle is based on the 1886 oil painting "In Brittany" ("En Bretagne") by Pierre-Auguste Renoir. The painting depicts two women and a toddler enjoying a sunny day the garden. Pierre-Auguste Renoir was a leading painter in the development of the Impressionist style. Renoir's paintings are notable for their vibrant light and saturated color, most often focusing on people in intimate and candid compositions. The female nude was one of his primary subjects. A prolific artist, he created several thousand paintings. . The single largest collection of his works - 181 paintings - is at the Barnes Foundation, in Philadelphia.

Paris Street; Rainy Day

This new puzzle is based on "Paris Street; Rainy Day" a 1877 oil painting by the French artist Gustave Caillebotte (1848–1894). The painting shows a number of people walking through the Place de Dublin, then known as the Carrefour de Moscou, at an intersection to the east of the Gare Saint-Lazare in north Paris. The painting was first shown at the Third Impressionist Exhibition of 1877.

View of the Brenta, near Dolo

This beautiful and challenging puzzle is based on a painting by the Venetian painter Giambattista Cimaroli. It depicts view of life on the Brenta near the town of Dolo, a short distance from Venice. The Brenta is a river that runs from Trentino to the Adriatic Sea just south of the Venetian lagoon. It runs through Stra, Fiesso d'Artico, Dolo, Mira, Oriago and Malcontenta to Fusina.

Monsieur Boileau at the Cafe

Today's puzzle is based on a painting by the French painter Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. The painting depicts a certain Mr. Bolleau, who must have been a friend of Lautrec, relaxing in a small cafe in Paris.

Still Life: Balsam Apple and Vegetables

Today's puzzle is based on a 1820s painting by James Peale. The vegetables in this beautiful still life painting are: okra(ladies' fingers or ochro), blue-green cabbage, crinkly Savoy cabbage, Hubbard squash, eggplant, balsam apple, tomatoes, and purple-red cabbage. The Siesta

Today's puzzle is based on The Siesta, an 1892-1894 oil on canvas painting by Paul Gauguin. The picture depicts a group of Tahitian women in westernized clothes chatting in the cool shade of a verandah during the hot afternoon sun. It was painted during Gauguin's first extended trip to the island of Tahiti.

Basket of Pears and Crabapples

This new puzzle is based on "Basket of Pears and Crabapples", an oil painting created by American artist John F. Francis in the 19th century. The painting is a still life depiction of a basket filled with ripe pears and crabapples arranged on a table against a neutral background. The composition of the painting is simple and straightforward, with the basket and fruit taking up most of the canvas.
