Farmhouse in Provence

Today's puzzle is based on the 1888 painting with the same name. Also known as Entrance Gate to a Farm with Haystacks, Farmhouse in Provence is an oil-on-canvas by Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh. At the time that Van Gogh made this beautiful painting, he was 35 years old and living in Arles, in southern France. During this period he produced some of his best work, such as fields, farmhouses and people of the Arles and Avignon area. As you might of already noticed, Van Gogh used several pairs of complementary colors in the Farmhouse in Provence, the color contrast bringing an intensity to his work.

Fishing in Spring, the Pont de Clichy

This new art themed puzzle is base on Vincent van Gogh's 1887 oil on canvas painting called Fishing in Spring, the Pont de Clichy (Asnières). The setting of this work is the Seine River at the Pont de Clichy, near Asnières. The Seine has been an integral part of Parisian life for centuries for commerce, travel and entertainment and it has been the subject and location of the paintings that Vincent van Gogh made in 1887. Longing for tranquil settings, van Gogh began to paint beyond the city fortifications and along the banks of the Seine, in Asnières and the island of Grand Jatte. He experimented with a lighter, more colorful palette than used in his early Dutch paintings or Montmartre series.

Village Festival

This fun new puzzle is based on one of David Teniers the Younger's most famous paintings called "Village Festival," an oil on canvas work. "Village Festival" is a celebration of the joy of community and the spirit of togetherness, capturing the essence of life in a Flemish village during the 17th century. The painting depicts a festive scene in a Flemish village, with people of all ages gathered in a vibrant outdoor setting. The figures are engaged in a variety of activities, such as dancing, playing music, and socializing. Some are dressed in elaborate costumes, while others are more casually attired. One of the most striking aspects of the painting is its sense of movement and energy.

Old Hook Mill

This fun new puzzle is based on Edward Lamson Henry's oil on canvas painting called "Old Hook Mill, Easthampton". If you didn't know, the Hook Windmill was the last wind-powered grain mill built in East Hampton, New York. It was constructed in 1806, it operated until 1908 and it still stands today. In the painting E.L. Henry depicts the mill in the calm after a storm. At the mill's entrance several men can be seen loading sacks of flour into a horse-drawn wagon.

Luncheon Still Life

It's time for another art themed puzzle. This new one is called "Luncheon Still Life" and it's based on an oil on canvas painting John F. Francis. Francis was known as a leading painter of luncheon and dessert still lifes. Nearly all of his paintings depict fruits and desserts.

Luncheon of the Boating Party

This new puzzle is based on Pierre-Auguste Renoir's painting "Luncheon of the Boating Party" (1881; French: Le déjeuner des canotiers). The painting depicts a group of Renoir's friends relaxing on a balcony at the Maison Fournaise restaurant along the Seine river in Chatou, France. The painting was included in the Seventh Impressionist Exhibition in 1882 and it was identified as the best painting in the show by critics.

The Old Gate

Put the pieces back together, complete today's puzzle and see the old gate as captured by Charles Leickert in his painting from the 1800s. The painting depicts a view of a street with an old gate, several people walking, a woman with a basket on her head in the left corner and salesman with two women on the right. Have fun!

The Concert

This beautiful puzzle is based on a oil on canvas painting by one of the greatest painters of the Dutch Golden Age, Gerrit van Honthorst (1592–1656) The painting was first mentioned in a 1632 inventory of one of the Prince of Orange’s palaces in The Hague. The painting depicts musicians playing their instruments at concert while following the instruction of their bandleader. The underling political message was that, like in music, in society harmony can be achieved when the guidance of the leader is followed.

Fruit, Jug, and a Glass

Today's puzzle is based on a still life painting by Jean Simeon Chardin. As you might have guessed from the title, the painting depicts some fruit (peaches and plumbs), a jug and a glass of water. Click start and give it a try. Have fun!

The Basket of Apples

This new puzzle is based on Paul Cezanne 1893 painting "The Basket of Apples". This painting contains one of Cezanne's signature tilted tables, an impossible rectangle with no right angles. On the table you can see a basket of apples, a bottle of wine, a folded tablecloth and a plate of cookies. The painting is particularly remarkable for its creative composition, which rejected realistic representation in favor of distorting objects to create multiple perspectives.

Still Life with Apples and Pitcher

Today's puzzle is based on Camille Pissaro's 1872 impressionist oil on canvas painting "Still Life with Apples and Pitcher". Pissarro was a Danish-French Impressionist and Neo-Impressionist painter born on the island of St Thomas. He is the only artist to have shown his work at all eight Paris Impressionist exhibitions, from 1874 to 1886.

Spring Flowers

This new beautiful puzzle is based on a painting by Claude Monet with the same name. He painted this beautiful masterpiece in 1864. The painting features some beautiful Spring flowers (peonies, hydrangeas, lilacs and some geraniums). Monet loved flowers and is quoted as saying, "I perhaps owe having become a painter to flowers."
