This puzzle is based on the painting with the same name by the French impressionist painter Claude Monet. Monet spent the summer of 1867 at the resort town of Sainte-Adresse on the English Channel, near Le Havre (France). It was there, in a garden with a view of Honfleur on the horizon, that he painted this picture. The models were probably Monet's father, Adolphe, in the foreground, Monet's cousin's wife Jeanne-Marguerite Lecadre at the fence; Adolphe, her father; and perhaps, Sophie, her sister, the woman seated with her back to the viewer. The painting is now in the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Cattleya Orchid and Three Hummingbirds

Based on an oil on mahogany panel picture by Martin Johnson Heade, today's puzzle depicts a beautiful cattleya orchid and three hummingbirds. The artist planned to produce a book in the 1860s depicting Brazilian hummingbirds in tropical settings, and, to that end, created a series of 40 small pictures called "The Gems of Brazil". He later abandoned the project but retained his interest in hummingbirds, orchids and jungle landscapes. Cattleya is a genus of orchids that grow from Costa Rica south to Argentina.

If you didn't already know, croquet is a sport that involves hitting wooden or plastic balls with a mallet through hoops. In the distance, another woman stands in the doorway of a traditional house and looks on in the direction of the large tree and the other women.

This new puzzle is base on a painting by the German artist Philipp Hackert(1737-1807) and it features a view of the Gulf of Pozzuoli from Solfatara (an area of volcanic steam vents). The Gulf of Pozzuoli is a small gulf in the northwestern end of the Gulf of Naples in the Tyrrhenian Sea. The countryside around Naples was very popular with 18th and 19th century painters due to its dramatic and impressive landscapes, volcanoes and classical ruins.

This fun and challenging puzzle is based on a painting called "Child with Toys" by Auguste Renoir. The painting depicts the artist's son, Jean playing with his nanny Gabrielle. Gabrielle Renard became an important member of the family of the painter Pierre-Auguste Renoir, first becoming their nanny, and subsequently a frequent model for the artist. She developed a strong bond with the Renoirs' second son, the future filmmaker Jean Renoir (the child in this painting), lasted throughout their lives.

The painting was included in the Seventh Impressionist Exhibition in 1882 and it was identified as the best painting in the show by critics.
