Croquet Scene

This new puzzle is based on a painting from 1866 by Winslow Homer and it depicts three women and one man play croquet. If you didn't already know, croquet is a sport that involves hitting wooden or plastic balls with a mallet through hoops. There are several variations of croquet, differing in the scoring systems, order of shots, and layout. Croquet is played on a grass court.

The Family Concert

Today's puzzle is based on a painting by Jan Havickszoon Steen (c. 1626 - 679), a Dutch Golden Age painter. Daily life was Jan Steen's main pictorial theme. The painting featured depicts a small party listening to music in a family home. In his painting Steen often used members of his family as models.

Still Life with Apples and Pitcher

Today's puzzle is based on Camille Pissaro's 1872 impressionist oil on canvas painting "Still Life with Apples and Pitcher". Pissarro was a Danish-French Impressionist and Neo-Impressionist painter born on the island of St Thomas. He is the only artist to have shown his work at all eight Paris Impressionist exhibitions, from 1874 to 1886.

The Concert

This beautiful puzzle is based on a oil on canvas painting by one of the greatest painters of the Dutch Golden Age, Gerrit van Honthorst (1592–1656) The painting was first mentioned in a 1632 inventory of one of the Prince of Orange’s palaces in The Hague. The painting depicts musicians playing their instruments at concert while following the instruction of their bandleader. The underling political message was that, like in music, in society harmony can be achieved when the guidance of the leader is followed.

The Prize Piggies

In this new puzzle we feature three cute piggies. The puzzle image is based on "The Prize Piggies"(Christmas and New Year card) (1891) by L. Prang & Co. The original picture it depicts five small pigs in a pigsty looking out of a framed barn window. The picture was first exhibited in "Chromo-Mania! The Art of Chromolithography in Boston, 1840-1910.". The Prize Piggies was said to be the most popular picture of 1891.

Washerwoman

This new puzzle is based on Pissaro's 1893 painting, "A Washerwoman at Eragny". The washerwoman in Pissarro's painting is hard at work, scrubbing clothing in one barrel and rinsing them out in another. Before the invention of electricity and washing machines this is the way most people used to clean their clothes. It was hard work and it took a lot more time than today. If you didn't already know, a washerwoman or laundress is a woman who takes in laundry. These terms are now old-fashioned.

The Large Tree

This new puzzle is based on Paul Gauguin (a French Post-Impressionist artist) 1891 oil on canvas painting with the same name. This is among the first paintings he completed in 1891 after abandoning his family and career as a stockbroker and moving to the island of Tahiti. The painting depicts four women seeking shelter under the leaves of a large tree on a hot summer day. In the distance, another woman stands in the doorway of a traditional house and looks on in the direction of the large tree and the other women.

Today's puzzle is based on a 1827 oil on canvas painting by John James Audubon an American ornithologist, naturalist, and painter. The painting depicts two hens and a rooster in a chicken coop. Pick your difficulty, press start and give it a try!

Another art inspired puzzle is here. This new one is based on John George Brown's 1904 oil on canvas painting with the same name. In the "Boat Builder", Brown depicts an elderly craftsman working with hand tools in his small workshop while his dog is sleeping at his feet.
