This new puzzle is based on Winslow Homer's 1873 painting "Dad's Coming!". The painting depicts a woman and her children waiting for her husband to come back from fishing after a strong storm. The image was most likely inspired by the incident Homer witnessed in the summer of 1873 in Gloucester, Massachusetts, when strong storm claimed nine boats.
Trinity Day

Trinity Day

Today's new puzzle is based on a art nouveau (modern) painting caller "Trinity Day" by Boris Mikhaylovich Kustodiev (March 7, 1878 - May 28, 1927) - a Russian painter and stage designer. The painting was completed in 1920 and it depicts people in Russia celebrating Trinity day - the first Sunday after Pentecost in the Western Christian liturgical calendar, and the Sunday of Pentecost in Eastern Christianity. Trinity Sunday celebrates the Christian doctrine of the Trinity, the three Persons of God: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Self-Portrait with a Straw Hat

Self-Portrait with a Straw Hat

Today's puzzle is based on the painting by Van Gogh with the same name. Vincent Willem van Gogh was a Dutch post-impressionist painter. He created about 2,100 artworks, including around 860 oil paintings - landscapes, still lifes, portraits and self-portraits. He painted more than twenty self-portraits during his Parisian sojourn (1886–88). Short of funds but determined nevertheless to hone his skills as a figure painter, he became his own best sitter. The self-portrait in this new puzzle is a oil on canvas paiting and it was painted 1887.

A Rustic Mill

A Rustic Mill

A beautiful and challenging puzzle based on Albert Bierstadt's painting of rustic mill. Albert Bierstadt (January 7, 1830 – February 18, 1902) was a German-American painter best known for his lavish, sweeping landscapes of the American West. In obtaining the subject matter for these works, Bierstadt joined several journeys of the Westward Expansion. Though not the first artist to record these sites, Bierstadt was the foremost painter of these scenes for the remainder of the 19th century. Yosemite Valley, Yellowstone Park (c. 1868), Oakland Museum, Oakland, California Staubbach Falls, Near Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland, (1865) Storm in the Mountains, (1870). Bierstadt was part of the Hudson River School, not an institution but rather an informal group of like-minded painters. The Hudson River School style involved carefully detailed paintings with romantic, almost glowing lighting, sometimes called luminism. An important interpreter of the western landscape, Bierstadt, along with Thomas Moran, is also grouped with the Rocky Mountain School.

The Boating Party

The Boating Party

This puzzle is based on the 1893 oil painting by American artist Mary Cassatt with the same title. The Boating Party depicts an unknown woman, baby, and man in a sailboat. It has been suggested that Cassatt may have been inspired by Edouard Manet's Boating from 1874 when making the painting. Boating was exhibited at the Impressionist Exhibition of 1879, where it was not well received. Cassatt however, convinced her friend Louisine Havemeyer to buy it. Cassatt painted The Boating Party during the winter of 1893–1894 in Antibes, on the French Riviera.
