Two Sisters

This new puzzle is based on an 1881 oil-on-canvas painting by French artist Pierre-Auguste Renoir called the "Two Sisters" or "On the Terrace". The painting depicts a young woman and her younger sister seated outdoors with a small basket containing balls of wool. Renoir worked on the painting on the terrace of the Maison Fournaise, a restaurant located on an island in the Seine in Chatou, the western suburb of Paris.

Today's puzzle is based on "View of Florence", a painting by American artist Thomas Cole. The painting was completed in 1837 and it depicts a panoramic view of the city of Florence, Italy, with the Arno River flowing through the foreground and the city's iconic red-tiled rooftops and the famous Duomo and Palazzo Vecchio in the background. The painting is notable for its highly detailed and realistic depiction of the cityscape, as well as its use of light and color to create a sense of atmosphere and depth. Cole, who is best known for his landscape paintings of the American wilderness, created this painting while on a trip to Europe, where he was inspired by the rich history and culture of Italy.

Luncheon Still Life

It's time for another art themed puzzle. This new one is called "Luncheon Still Life" and it's based on an oil on canvas painting John F. Francis. Francis was known as a leading painter of luncheon and dessert still lifes. Nearly all of his paintings depict fruits and desserts.

Grapes, Lemons, Pears, and Apples

Another art themed puzzle is here. Painted in the fall of 1887 by Vincent van Gogh, "Grapes, Lemons, Pears, and Apples" features seasonal fruit. In this painting, van Gogh employed more vibrant colors, and used a thicker, broader paint application than he had earlier.

Farmhouse in Provence

Today's puzzle is based on the 1888 painting with the same name. Also known as Entrance Gate to a Farm with Haystacks, Farmhouse in Provence is an oil-on-canvas by Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh. At the time that Van Gogh made this beautiful painting, he was 35 years old and living in Arles, in southern France. During this period he produced some of his best work, such as fields, farmhouses and people of the Arles and Avignon area. As you might of already noticed, Van Gogh used several pairs of complementary colors in the Farmhouse in Provence, the color contrast bringing an intensity to his work.

Italian Landscape with Umbrella Pines

Today's puzzle is based on an oil on canvas painting by Hendrik Voogd (a Dutch painter and printmaker, who was active in Italy). In this beautiful painting, Voogd depicted the gardens of the Villa Borghese in Rome in the late afternoon. You can see the setting sun behind the impressive umbrella pines in the background, and some people enjoying their afternoon in the foreground of the painting.

View of Olinda, Brazil

Today we're going back in time and visiting Olinda, Brazil in 1662. This puzzle is based on an oil on canvas painting Frans Jansz Post. It depicts Olinda Cathedral (damaged when the Dutch captured the region from the Portuguese in the 1630s) in the background and a variety of indigenous animals, plants, birds and even insects in the foreground. Today's puzzle is based on a painting by the French painter Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. The painting depicts a certain Mr. Bolleau, who must have been a friend of Lautrec, relaxing in a small cafe in Paris.

Today's puzzle is based on a watercolor over black chalk painting by the French painter and printmaker Henri Edmond Cross. The painting depicts a scene from Venice in the early 1900s. The city is built on a group of over 100 small islands that are separated by canals and linked by over 400 bridges. It is the capital of the Veneto region in northeastern Italy.

Paris Street; Rainy Day

This new puzzle is based on "Paris Street; Rainy Day" a 1877 oil painting by the French artist Gustave Caillebotte (1848–1894). The painting shows a number of people walking through the Place de Dublin, then known as the Carrefour de Moscou, at an intersection to the east of the Gare Saint-Lazare in north Paris. The painting was first shown at the Third Impressionist Exhibition of 1877.
