Farmhouse in Provence

Today's puzzle is based on the 1888 painting with the same name. Also known as Entrance Gate to a Farm with Haystacks, Farmhouse in Provence is an oil-on-canvas by Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh. At the time that Van Gogh made this beautiful painting, he was 35 years old and living in Arles, in southern France. During this period he produced some of his best work, such as fields, farmhouses and people of the Arles and Avignon area. As you might of already noticed, Van Gogh used several pairs of complementary colors in the Farmhouse in Provence, the color contrast bringing an intensity to his work.

People have used mussels as food for thousands of years. There are about 17 edible species of mussels that live in saltwater or freshwater habitats.

The painting depicts animals grazing and resting on a grassy meadow. He worked in many genres including history paintings, landscapes and seascapes, hunting pieces, village scenes, allegorical and mythological scenes, battle scenes and more. Wooded Landscape with Travelers depicts a rustic scene in the Flemish countryside. Farmers and their animals are depicted traveling to and from a city in the distance.

Still Life with Flowers and Fruit

Today's art themed puzzle is based on the 1866 "Still Life with Flowers and Fruit" painting by Henri Fantin-Latour. The painting is one of four still lifes commissioned from the artist by Michael Spartali (a Greek businessman and diplomat). In addition to his realistic paintings, like the one in this puzzle, Fantin-Latour created imaginative lithographs inspired by the music of some of the great classical composers.

The painting called "Still Life: Peaches and Grapes", depicts a bowl of peaches and some white and black grapes on a table. The Starry Night

This puzzle is based on the oil on canvas painting by Dutch Post-Impressionist painter Vincent van Gogh with the same name. Painted in June 1889, it depicts the view from the east-facing window of his asylum room at Saint-Remy-de-Provence, just before sunrise, with the addition of an imaginary village. Van Gogh depicted the view at different times of the day and under various weather conditions, including sunrise, moonrise, sunshine-filled days, overcast days, windy days, and one day with rain. The Starry Night is the only nocturne in the series of views from his bedroom window.
