About: This art themed puzzle is based on the 1886 oil painting "In Brittany" ("En Bretagne") by Pierre-Auguste Renoir. The painting depicts two women and a toddler enjoying a sunny day the garden. Pierre-Auguste Renoir was a leading painter in the development of the Impressionist style. Renoir's paintings are notable for their vibrant light and saturated color, most often focusing on people in intimate and candid compositions. The female nude was one of his primary subjects. A prolific artist, he created several thousand paintings. . The single largest collection of his works - 181 paintings - is at the Barnes Foundation, in Philadelphia.

At the time that Van Gogh made this beautiful painting, he was 35 years old and living in Arles, in southern France. During this period he produced some of his best work, such as fields, farmhouses and people of the Arles and Avignon area. As you might of already noticed, Van Gogh used several pairs of complementary colors in the Farmhouse in Provence, the color contrast bringing an intensity to his work.

This puzzle is based on the 1893 oil painting by American artist Mary Cassatt with the same title. The Boating Party depicts an unknown woman, baby, and man in a sailboat. It has been suggested that Cassatt may have been inspired by Edouard Manet's Boating from 1874 when making the painting. Boating was exhibited at the Impressionist Exhibition of 1879, where it was not well received. Cassatt however, convinced her friend Louisine Havemeyer to buy it. Cassatt painted The Boating Party during the winter of 1893–1894 in Antibes, on the French Riviera.
