The Basket of Apples

This new puzzle is based on Paul Cezanne 1893 painting "The Basket of Apples". This painting contains one of Cezanne's signature tilted tables, an impossible rectangle with no right angles. On the table you can see a basket of apples, a bottle of wine, a folded tablecloth and a plate of cookies. The painting is particularly remarkable for its creative composition, which rejected realistic representation in favor of distorting objects to create multiple perspectives.

Fruit And Sugar Cubes

This puzzle is based on a still life painting by Hannah Brown Skeele. It features a bowl full of strawberries, one full of various fruit (bananas, oranges, pineapple, apples and lemons), sugar cubes in an ornate silver container and a spoon and knife on a table.

Still Life with Flowers and Prickly Pears

Washerwoman

This new puzzle is based on Pissaro's 1893 painting, "A Washerwoman at Eragny". The washerwoman in Pissarro's painting is hard at work, scrubbing clothing in one barrel and rinsing them out in another. Before the invention of electricity and washing machines this is the way most people used to clean their clothes. It was hard work and it took a lot more time than today. If you didn't already know, a washerwoman or laundress is a woman who takes in laundry. These terms are now old-fashioned.

Tropical Forest with Monkeys

Today's interesting and fun puzzle is based on Henri Rousseau's oil on canvas painting called "Tropical Forest with Monkeys". The painting depicts one of his signature exotic landscapes - tropical forest. In the painting we can see several monkeys that, as other animals painted by Rousseau, have human faces or attributes. Two Sisters

This new puzzle is based on an 1881 oil-on-canvas painting by French artist Pierre-Auguste Renoir called the "Two Sisters" or "On the Terrace". The painting depicts a young woman and her younger sister seated outdoors with a small basket containing balls of wool. Renoir worked on the painting on the terrace of the Maison Fournaise, a restaurant located on an island in the Seine in Chatou, the western suburb of Paris.

Fishing in Spring, the Pont de Clichy

This new art themed puzzle is base on Vincent van Gogh's 1887 oil on canvas painting called Fishing in Spring, the Pont de Clichy (Asnières). The setting of this work is the Seine River at the Pont de Clichy, near Asnières. The Seine has been an integral part of Parisian life for centuries for commerce, travel and entertainment and it has been the subject and location of the paintings that Vincent van Gogh made in 1887. Longing for tranquil settings, van Gogh began to paint beyond the city fortifications and along the banks of the Seine, in Asnières and the island of Grand Jatte. He experimented with a lighter, more colorful palette than used in his early Dutch paintings or Montmartre series.

On the Bank of the Seine

Today's puzzle is based on a painting by the French artist Claude Monet called On the Bank of the Seine, Bennecourt. The painting depicts Claude Monet’s future wife, Camille Doncieux, sitting on an island in the Seine River next tot the town of Bennecourt. It is believed that she and Monet rowed to the island on one of their walks during a brief period that the couple spent in Bennecourt, near Paris.

The Boating Party

This puzzle is based on the 1893 oil painting by American artist Mary Cassatt with the same title. The Boating Party depicts an unknown woman, baby, and man in a sailboat. It has been suggested that Cassatt may have been inspired by Edouard Manet's Boating from 1874 when making the painting. Boating was exhibited at the Impressionist Exhibition of 1879, where it was not well received. Cassatt however, convinced her friend Louisine Havemeyer to buy it. Cassatt painted The Boating Party during the winter of 1893–1894 in Antibes, on the French Riviera.

The Third Avenue Railroad Depot

Today we're going back in time and visiting the Third Avenue Railroad Company’s depot. The impressive brick building was located on Third Avenue between 65th and 66th Streets in New York City. It was completed in 1857. The puzzle is based on an oil on canvas painting by William H. Schenck ( the company’s superintendent between 1856 and 1864).

Abundant Fruit

This fun new puzzle is based on a painting by Severin Roesen (c. 1815 in Boppard - c. 1872) was a Prussian-American painter known for his abundant fruit and flower still lifes. The fruits depicted in this painting do not all ripen at the same time and it wouldn't have been possible to have them on the same table in 19th-century. The artist chose symbolism over accuracy and included all the fruit at the same time. The abundance of fruit speaks is meant to speak about the prosperity of the young United States. Roesen arrived in America around 1848, the painting featured here was made in 1858,

In this new puzzle we feature three cute piggies. The puzzle image is based on "The Prize Piggies"(Christmas and New Year card) (1891) by L. Prang & Co. The original picture it depicts five small pigs in a pigsty looking out of a framed barn window. The picture was first exhibited in "Chromo-Mania! The Art of Chromolithography in Boston, 1840-1910.". The Prize Piggies was said to be the most popular picture of 1891.
