Still Life with Peaches and Grapes

Another art themed puzzle is here. In this new one we feature a painting called "Still Life with Peaches and Grapes" by Auguste Renoir( a leading painter in the development of the Impressionist style). Renoir made this painting, and a similar one showing a jardiniere full of freshly picked peaches, during his stay at the country home of his patron Paul Berard in the small Normandy village of Wargemont in 1881.

Mountainous Landscape near Dusseldorf

Put the pieces back together and see how the mountainous landscape near Dusseldorf looked in the 1790s. The image featured in this puzzle is based on an oil on panel painting by Gerard van Nijmegen (a Dutch Old Masters artist). The painting depicts a mountainous landscape with ruins, a small waterfall and ox-wagon going over an old wooden bridge.

The Siesta

Today's puzzle is based on The Siesta, an 1892-1894 oil on canvas painting by Paul Gauguin. The picture depicts a group of Tahitian women in westernized clothes chatting in the cool shade of a verandah during the hot afternoon sun. It was painted during Gauguin's first extended trip to the island of Tahiti.

Still Life with Apples and Peaches

Another art based puzzle is here. In this new one we feature an oil on canvas painting by Paul Cezanne called Still Life with Apples and Peaches. The objects pictured in this painting (the table, patterned cloth, and flowered pitcher) were all props that Cezanne pictured in several still life paintings.

Vase with Pink Roses

The painting that this puzzle is based on, "Still Life: Vase with Pink Roses", was made in 1890 by Vincent van Gogh shortly before his release from the Saint-Rémy asylum. This and the similarly-dated Pink Roses reflect the optimism Van Gogh felt at that time about his future. The painting is one of several Van Gogh examples of overabundance in still life, filling the picture plane with the vase and overflowing flowers.

Poppies, Isles of Shoals

The Isles of Shoals are a group of small islands are situated approximately 6 miles (10 km) off the New Hampshire coast in the United States. The author of the painting this puzzle is based on, Childe Hassam, was a regular visitor of the islands. The view featured in this painting, centered on an outcropping called Babb's Rock, was one of Hassam's favorite places on the islands. He painted this area many times.

In the Old Quarter

In today's new puzzle we're going back in time and visiting Sitka, Alaska in 1900. This puzzle is based on a oil on canvas, mounted on paperboard by Theodore J. Richardson and it depicts the old quarter of Sitka, a unified city-borough in the southeast portion of the U.S. state of Alaska. The landscape was painted in 1900.

Dining Room in the Country

Today's puzzle is based on Pierre Bonnard's painting "Dining Room in the Country". It depicts the dining room in Bonnard's country house in Vernonnet, a small town on the Seine. Leaning on the windowsill is Marthe de Meligny, the artist's wife, and on the chairs his two cats.

Figures on the Beach

Based on an oil on canvas painting by Auguste Renoir, today's puzzle depicts two female figures at the beach on a sunny summer day. The artist probably painted this scene on the Cote d'Azur in southern France. Next to the two women we can see a small white dog resting, in the distance a small child playing and in the the background some boats sailing on the calm blue waters of the sea.

Grapes, Lemons, Pears, and Apples

Another art themed puzzle is here. Painted in the fall of 1887 by Vincent van Gogh, "Grapes, Lemons, Pears, and Apples" features seasonal fruit. In this painting, van Gogh employed more vibrant colors, and used a thicker, broader paint application than he had earlier.

The Empress Eugenie

If you didn't already know, Dona María Eugenia Ignacia Agustina de Palafox y Kirkpatrick, 19th Countess of Teba, 16th Marchioness of Ardales (5 May 1826 – 11 July 1920), known as Eugenie de Montijo, was Empress of the French from her marriage to Emperor Napoleon III. This painting of her was made in oil on canvas by Franz Xaver Winterhalter in 1854.

The Art of Painting

This new puzzle is based on "The Art of Painting", also known as "The Allegory of Painting", or "Painter in his Studio", is a 17th-century oil on canvas painting by Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer. The painting depicts an artist painting a woman dressed in blue posing as a model in his studio. The painter was thought to be a self-portrait of the artist and it has been suggested that the young woman could be his daughter. The painting is considered a work with significance for Vermeer because he did not part with it or sell it, even when he was in debt.
