The Family Concert

Today's puzzle is based on a painting by Jan Havickszoon Steen (c. 1626 - 679), a Dutch Golden Age painter. Daily life was Jan Steen's main pictorial theme. The painting featured depicts a small party listening to music in a family home. In his painting Steen often used members of his family as models.

The Basket of Apples

This new puzzle is based on Paul Cezanne 1893 painting "The Basket of Apples". This painting contains one of Cezanne's signature tilted tables, an impossible rectangle with no right angles. On the table you can see a basket of apples, a bottle of wine, a folded tablecloth and a plate of cookies. The painting is particularly remarkable for its creative composition, which rejected realistic representation in favor of distorting objects to create multiple perspectives.

River Landscape with Ferry

This new puzzle is based the 1649 oil on canvas painting "River Landscape with Ferry" by the Dutch landscape painter Salomon van Ruysdael. Salomon was known for his landscapes and river scenes. The one featured in this puzzle depicts a ferry full of people and crossing a river.

Still Life: Balsam Apple and Vegetables

Today's puzzle is based on a 1820s painting by James Peale. The vegetables in this beautiful still life painting are: okra(ladies' fingers or ochro), blue-green cabbage, crinkly Savoy cabbage, Hubbard squash, eggplant, balsam apple, tomatoes, and purple-red cabbage. Garden at Sainte-Adresse

This puzzle is based on the painting with the same name by the French impressionist painter Claude Monet. Monet spent the summer of 1867 at the resort town of Sainte-Adresse on the English Channel, near Le Havre (France). It was there, in a garden with a view of Honfleur on the horizon, that he painted this picture. The models were probably Monet's father, Adolphe, in the foreground, Monet's cousin's wife Jeanne-Marguerite Lecadre at the fence; Adolphe, her father; and perhaps, Sophie, her sister, the woman seated with her back to the viewer. The painting is now in the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Tropical Forest with Monkeys

Today's interesting and fun puzzle is based on Henri Rousseau's oil on canvas painting called "Tropical Forest with Monkeys". The painting depicts one of his signature exotic landscapes - tropical forest. In the painting we can see several monkeys that, as other animals painted by Rousseau, have human faces or attributes. This new beautiful puzzle is based on a painting by Claude Monet with the same name. He painted this beautiful masterpiece in 1864. The painting features some beautiful Spring flowers (peonies, hydrangeas, lilacs and some geraniums). Monet loved flowers and is quoted as saying, "I perhaps owe having become a painter to flowers."

A Cherry Vendor at the Door

This beautiful and fun puzzle is based on an oil on panel painting from 1816 by Abraham van Strij. It depicts a mother and her daughter buying some fresh cherries from a woman selling them door to door. In this beautiful scene of life in the 1800s you can also see the entrance to the house, some house in the background, the family's pets(a small dog and cat) and some other small details.

View of the Brenta, near Dolo

This beautiful and challenging puzzle is based on a painting by the Venetian painter Giambattista Cimaroli. It depicts view of life on the Brenta near the town of Dolo, a short distance from Venice. The Brenta is a river that runs from Trentino to the Adriatic Sea just south of the Venetian lagoon. It runs through Stra, Fiesso d'Artico, Dolo, Mira, Oriago and Malcontenta to Fusina.

Old Bruton Church

Today we're going back to the 1890s and visiting the Bruton Church in the restored area of Colonial Williamsburg in Williamsburg, Virginia. This puzzle is based on a oil on canvas painting by Alfred Wordsworth Thompson and it depicts the Bruton Parish Church. The church was constructed between 1711 and 1715. The building was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1970 as a well-preserved early example of colonial religious architecture.

The Prize Piggies
