Roma Antica

Roma Antica

Today's free jigsaw is based on Giovanni Paolo Pannini's painting with the same name. Giovanni Paolo Panini or Pannini (17 June 1691 – 21 October 1765) was a painter and architect, who worked in Rome and is mainly known as one of the vedutisti ("view painters"). As a painter, Panini is best known for his vistas of Rome, in which he took a particular interest in the city's antiquities.

Two Fishermen

Two Fishermen

Time to go fishing. Start today's new puzzle and join the two old fishermen for a day of fishing on the calm, blue sea. Fishing has existed as a means of obtaining food since the Mesolithic period. The early evolution of fishing as recreation is not clear. For example, there is anecdotal evidence for fly fishing in Japan, however, fly fishing was likely to have been a means of survival, rather than recreation. The earliest English essay on recreational fishing was published in 1496, by Dame Juliana Berners.
Horses Grazing

Horses Grazing

A fun jigsaw puzzle based on Rosa Bonheur's famous painting "Horses Grazing". Rosa Bonheur, born Marie-Rosalie Bonheur, (16 March 1822 – 25 May 1899) was a French animalière, realist artist, and sculptor.

Inspired by a sketch by Grasset of a stained glass window by Felix Gaudin, this stained glass depicting the poetess Louise Labbe features decorative influences of the Art Nouveau type and it's one of the most best and most representative works of Lucien Begule. The stained glass portrait was distinguished with a gold medal at the Paris Universal Exhibition in 1900.

Glorious First of June

Glorious First of June

The Glorious First of June (also known as the Third Battle of Ushant, and in France as the Bataille du 13 prairial an 2 or Combat de Prairial) of 1794 was the first and largest fleet action of the naval conflict between the Kingdom of Great Britain and the First French Republic during the French Revolutionary Wars. The British Channel Fleet under Admiral Lord Howe attempted to prevent the passage of a vital French grain convoy from the United States, which was protected by the French Atlantic Fleet, commanded by Vice-Admiral Louis Thomas Villaret de Joyeuse. The two forces clashed in the Atlantic Ocean, some 400 nautical miles (741 km) west of the French island of Ushant on 1 June 1794. This jigsaw is based on Philippe-Jacques de Loutherbourg's painting depicting this naval battle.
The Adoration of the Kings

The Adoration of the Kings

Another art themed puzzle is here. Today we feature a painting by Hugo van der Goes (circa 1440-1482) called The Adoration of the Kings (Monforte Altar). The altar's appellation derives from its stay in the monastery of Monforte de Lemos in northern Spain, where it was presumably taken in the 16th century.
The Railway

The Railway

The Railway, widely known as The Gare Saint-Lazare, is an 1873 painting by Edouard Manet. The setting is the urban landscape of Paris in the late nineteenth century. Using his favorite model in his last painting of her, a fellow painter, Victorine Meurent, also the model for Olympia and the Luncheon on the Grass, sits before an iron fence holding a sleeping puppy and an open book in her lap. Next to her is a little girl with her back to the painter, who watches a train pass beneath them.
