About: The castle is built on the site of a Celtic fort dating to around 500 BC. Between 914 and 930 AD, Bishop Tuto of Regensburg had a castle built here to defend the area from Hungarian invasion. The ruined hill castle is located on a hill spur overlooking the River Danube by the market village of Donaustauf in the Upper Palatine county of Regensburg in the south German state of Bavaria.

Ananuri was a castle and seat of the eristavis (Dukes) of Aragvi, a feudal dynasty which ruled the area from the 13th century. The castle complex is located on the Aragvi River in Georgia. The fortifications consist of two castles joined by a crenelated curtain wall. Within the complex, among other buildings, are two churches. The older Church of the Virgin, which abuts a tall square tower. It dates from the first half of the 17th century, and was built of brick. The larger Church of the Mother of God, is a central dome style structure with richly decorated facades, including a carved north entrance and a carved grapevine cross on the south facade.

The core of the castle consists of three parts placed on three levels-differentiated terraces; every level express different importance. The oldest part of the castle, a defence tower, was erected in the latter half of the 13th century and it was used to defend and control the bridge on the Svartan river (the castle lies on an island on the river). This castle was built by Lafon, who was knighted by Charles VIII in recognition of his bravery during the wars of Italy, in the late fifteenth century . It is located in Autoire - one of the most beautiful villages in the Lot department in southwestern France. The village of Autoire is nestled in an impressive cirque formed by high limestone cliffs. Known as "Limargue Castle" the manor house, featured in today's new jigsaw puzzle, revolves around the tower with a spiral staircase. The main entrance to the house at the bottom of the tower is decorated with intricately carved arch, characteristic of the customs of the last quarter of the 15th century and the beginning of the 16th century.

Located on an island in the middle of the Indre river in the town of Azay-le-Rideau in the French departement of Indre-et-Loire, this château was built between 1518 and 1527 and is considered one of the foremost examples of early French renaissance architecture. This relatively small château is divided into two sections, the main central body and a wing at right angles to it, and displays a blend of architectural styles. The château's most prominent feature is the grand central staircase, the escalier d'honneur. Its design is thought to have been inspired by the staircase of the Château de Châteaudun, which it resembles. Azay-le-Rideau's staircase rises in straight flights rather than in a spiral, as was more usual at this time, and is the oldest surviving staircase of this kind in France.
