About: Located in Gatika, in the province of Biscay, in northern Spain - Butrón Castle has a fairy-tale look about it inspired by Bavarian castles. It was first built in the Middle Ages, and it owes its present appearance to an almost complete rebuilding begun by Francisco de Cubas in 1878. The building is surrounded by a park which includes palms and exotic plants.

Karlstejn Castle, located about 30 kilometers southwest of Prague above the village of the same name, is a large Gothic castle founded 1348 by Charles IV, Holy Roman Emperor-elect and King of Bohemia. The castle was built upon a promontory from the south side of Kněží Hora hill, divided from it by a narrow sag. The core of the castle consists of three parts placed on three levels-differentiated terraces; every level express different importance. On the lowest terrace stands the Imperial Palace, above it the Marian Tower and the Big Tower above it on the highest level.

Located in the city of Schwerin (Germany), Schwerin Castle - the beautiful castle feature in this puzzle, is situated on an island on lake Schwerin (an approximately 61 square kilometres and 52 meter depth). The palace was the home of the dukes and grand dukes of Mecklenburg and Mecklenburg-Schwerin for hundreds of years. The first records of a castle at this location date from AD 973. Major parts of the current palace were built between 1845 and 1857, as a cooperation of the renowned history architects Friedrich August Stüler, Gottfried Semper, Ernst Friedrich Zwirner and Georg Adolf Demmler. A third of the palace was destroyed in 1913 by a fire but it was reconstructed. After the abdication of the Grand Duke in 1918 the castle became a musesum and in 1948 the seate of the state parliament. Starting in the 1950 it has been a college for kindergarten teachers, a museum and since 1990 is has once again been a the seat of he state assembly of the State of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

In the early eighteenth century the Mackenzie's involvement in the Jacobite rebellions led in 1719 to the castle's destruction by government ships.The current castle is a twentieth-century reconstruction.

Today we're visiting the Boitzenburg Castle in the Uckermark district, in Brandenburg, Germany. The castle was first mentioned in 1276. Damaged in the Thirty Years' War, when it was a possession of Field Marshal Hans Georg von Arnim-Boitzenburg, the fortress was rebuilt by his descendants in a Baroque style from 1740 onwards. Refurbished according to plans designed by Friedrich August Stüler between 1838 and 1842, it received its present Neo-Renaissance appearance in 1881–1884. Today it houses a hotel.

The Belogradchik Fortress (also known as Kaleto - "the fortress" from Turkish kale) is an ancient fortress located on the north slopes of the Balkan Mountains, close to the northwestern Bulgarian town of Belogradchik. The Kaleto Fortress was originally built by the Romans and later expanded by the Byzantines, Bulgarians and Turks. Most of what you see today was completed in the 1830s. The rock formations in the area served as a natural protection, as fortified walls were practically only built from the northwest and southeast.

The town was originally an Old Prussian settlement known as Lecbarg until being conquered in 1240 by the Teutonic Knights, who named it Heilsberg. In 1306 it became the seat for the Bishopric of Warmia. Nicolaus Copernicus lived at the castle for several years, and it is believed he wrote part of his De revolutionibus orbium coelestium there.

The Scaligero Castle is a fortress from the Scaliger era (The Della Scala family, whose members were known as Scaligeri ,was the ruling family of Verona and mainland Veneto (except for Venice) from 13th to 14th century, for a total of 125 years) located in Sirmione (a comune in the province of Brescia, in Lombardy, northern Italy). Thanks to its strategical geographical location as a border outpost, Sirmione became a crucial defense and control garrison for the ruling nobles, retaining this function until the sixteenth century. The massive fortress is totally surrounded by water and from the drawbridge, a staircase leads to the walkways above the walls, providing a marvelous view of the harbour.
