The two humps on the back are composed of fat (not water as is sometimes thought).

This species of seabird breeds in Iceland, Norway, Greenland, Newfoundland, and the Faroe Islands, and as far south as Maine in the west and parts of Great Britain in the east. The puffin has a black crown and back, pale grey cheek patches and white underparts. Both legs and large webbed feet are bright orange, contrasting with the sharp, black claws. It's beak is very distinctive. he half near the tip is orange-red and the half near to the head is slate grey.

They are generally herbivorous, feeding on various water-plants, although some species also eat fish, molluscs, or aquatic arthropods.

It feeds on prey such as insects and earthworms, as well as small vertebrates including amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals. The little owl is partly diurnal and often perches boldly and prominently during the day.
