Louisiana Heron

Now known as the tricolored heron, the Louisiana heron, is a small species of heron native to coastal parts of the Americas. This species of heron breeds in swamps and other coastal habitats. Adults have a blue-grey head, neck, back, and upper wings, with a white line along the neck. Their belly is white. This puzzle is based on hand-colored engraving and aquatint on Whatman wove paper by Robert Havell after John James Audubon in the series The Birds of America.

Lady Amherst's Pheasant

The Lady Amherst's pheasant is native to southwestern China and far northern Myanmar, but has been introduced elsewhere. These colorful are very difficult to see in their natural habitat, which is dense, dark forests with thick undergrowth. They feed on the ground on grain, leaves and invertebrates, but sleep in trees at night.

Black Horse

Horses are grazing animals, and their major source of nutrients is good-quality forage from hay or pasture. Black Cat

A "solid black" cat may be grayish black, brownish black, or coal black. Most black cats have golden irises due to their high melanin pigment content. All-black fur pigmentation is slightly more prevalent in male cats.

Giant Panda

In today's puzzle we feature a cute giant panda. The giant panda, panda bear or simply the panda is native to South Central China. It lives in a few mountain ranges in central China, mainly in Sichuan, but also in neighboring Shaanxi and Gansu. It's diet is primarily herbivorous, consisting almost exclusively of bamboo.

Chinese Monal

These beautiful pheasant, also known as the Chinese monal or Chinese impeyan, lives only in the mountains of central China. The male is more colorful then the female, that is dark brown with some white accents. The male monal has a large purple crest, a red-goldened mantle, a green head, bluish green feathers and black underparts. It's plumage is highly iridescent.

Pelican Flying

Pelicans are among the heaviest of flying birds. They use thermals for soaring to heights of 3000 m or more, combined both with gliding and with flapping flight in V formation, to travel distances of up to 150 km to feeding areas. Pelicans also fly low over stretches of water, using a phenomenon known as ground effect to reduce drag and increase lift. This helps them save substantial amounts of energy while flying.
